GB National Cadet squad programme available to Scottish players
After a lot of anticipation the GB Taekwondo Performance Academy have launched a new development programme for junior and cadet TKD players. This excellent initiative is supported by Sport England and delivered by GB Taekwondo. Following discussions between the GB Performance Director, Mr Gary Hall, and Scotland’s National Performance Coach, Mr Nikos Jakubiak, access to this Manchester based programme will be possible for selected Scottish players with the right aptitude and attitude.
“This is a great development opportunity for our Scottish players who aspire to become World Class and win medals with the British team at the World Championships or the Olympics! It is a great way to supplement the good programme we have already put in place in Scotland for our young players. Scotland’s novel high performance programme coupled with the Cadet programme from GB Taekwondo will take those cadets good enough to get involved another step closer to achieving excellence” commented the National Coach for Scotland who also reported to be very confident that there are already some excellent players within the Scottish National team cadet development programme who are showing great potential. It is only a matter of time before we finally see a Scottish TKD player winning a medal at a World Championship or in the Olympics and the player who will be the first to do this is now somebody training within our newly established Scottish National team development and elite programmes.
Any cadet or junior players, and their instructors, interested to be part of the GB National cadet squad programme should contact the National Performance Coach to discuss the criteria for making the squad. For more information about the programme visit http://www.gbtaekwondo.co.uk/development.html
