STATEMENT BY taekwondoscotland™ BTCB (SCOTLAND), SEPTEMBER 2011.
To counter a considerable amount of misinformation and untruths that have been posted recently, BTCB (Scotland) would like to confirm that contrary to rumours, we are still operating from a position of strength and have a thriving membership in Scotland.
We are members of the BTCB the National Governing Body (NGB) for WTF taekwondo in the UK; as such we are recognised as the NGB in Scotland. This has been endorsed by both the BTCB Executive Committee and the World Governing body the WTF.
This confusion may have arisen due to several clubs leaving BTCB (Scotland) and The BTCB to form their own organisation outwith these National Governing Bodies.
Membership of our organisation offers the opportunity to compete in both Kyorugi and Poomsae disciplines at the highest level. Any group or individual who is not a BTCB member cannot compete in any events that are endorsed by National Governing Bodies either within or outwith the UK, this includes GB National Championships and any official European event.
No Scottish, English, Welsh or Northern Irish competitor is able to compete in the European Championships, World Championships or Olympic Games unless they are part of an official GB Team, this is possible only through membership of the BTCB.
BTCB (Scotland) is committed to developing all aspects of taekwondo and improving the standards of both
sport and traditional taekwondo.
We have an ongoing High Performance Program in both Sport taekwondo and Poomsae and only BTCB members have the opportunity to take part in both National Programs, which provide access to the official Scotland and GB National Teams.
For further information or clarification please contact any executive member of
BTCB (Scotland) or The BTCB.
Yours,
The Executive Committee BTCB (Scotland)
